Anime Opening Movie Debuts at ANIME Impulse OC, Featuring SUIREN
Today, SQUARE ENIX® lifted the curtains on the anime opening movie for the much-awaited 2.5D remake, STAR OCEAN THE SECOND STORY R. Originally launched in 1998 and the second game in the ever-popular STAR OCEAN series, this adrenaline-pumping game will arrive on Nov. 2, 2023, for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation5 (PS5) and PlayStation4 (PS4) consoles, and digitally on PC via STEAM.
Viewers were given a first-look at the opening at this year’s ANIME Impulse OC. Dual playable protagonists Claude and Rena are shown alongside their allies gearing up for the adventure ahead, as they are thrust into a battle against an otherworldly opponent.
The STAR OCEAN THE SECOND STORY R anime opening is brought to life by Yostar Pictures, whose animation prowess and energy is sure to astound players when they join Claude and Rena in this thrilling escapade. Accompanying the visuals is “stella,” a catchy song written by SUIREN, a Japanese duo unit consisting of singer Sui and keyboardist/arranger Ren.
The adventure ahead will feature a mix of fan-favourite elements as well as some modern touches. As well as a rearranged soundtrack, new difficulty settings and quality-of-life improvements, STAR OCEAN THE SECOND STORY R puts players in control of Claude and Rena as they engage in fast-paced real-time combat and experience their own unique journeys thanks to the game’s Private Actions system.
Pre-orders for the physical editions are available now, with eligible buyers receiving a selection of digital content as a pre-order bonus. These include the Pangalactic Federation Longsword, Forest Knuckles, a set of recovery items and the Sunrise Ring.
