Blade Chimera, the highly anticipated cyberpunk metroidvania game by Team Ladybug, is set to release on Steam and Nintendo Switch in August 2024. To give fans a taste of what’s to come, a new trailer featuring never-before-seen gameplay footage has been revealed.

Blade Chimera is the latest creation by Team Ladybug, known for their critically acclaimed 2D metroidvanias Touhou Luna Nights and Record of Lodoss War-Deedlit in Wonder Labyrinth. In this game, players take on the role of Shin, a Demon Hunter who has lost his memories and is on a journey to uncover his past. Along the way, he is accompanied by his trusty weapon, the Lumina Sword, which can transform into various forms to help players navigate through a desolate yet beautiful cyberpunk world.

Players will use the Lumina Sword to interfere with the past, create new platforms, and defend against danger while exploring the dystopian world. But that’s not the only weapon at your disposal. Blade Chimera features a variety of weapons such as daggers and guns, allowing players to customize their fighting style.

Plus, with a skill tree system, players can level up and unlock new abilities to aid them on their journey.

The game is depicted in Team Ladybug’s signature pixel art, with every frame hand-crafted to perfection. The newly released trailer showcases the game’s stunning visuals, as well as exciting boss battles and gimmicks. And to give players a taste of the actual gameplay experience, Blade Chimera will be part of the Steam Next Fest in June, with a public demo available for everyone to try out.

Originally scheduled for a Spring 2024 release, the team has decided to delay the game until August 2024 in order to further polish and refine the game.
