New 2D Side-Scrolling Adventure Introduces Wonder Flowers That Trigger Dramatic Changes to the Gameplay

Today’s launch of the Super Mario Bros. Wonder game for the Nintendo Switch system marks the first 2D side-scrolling Mario game for a console in more than 10 years adding to the beloved, multi-decade legacy of the iconic Super Mario Bros. game. To mark the momentous occasion, Nintendo held a launch event on Oct. 19 at Nintendo NY in Rockefeller Plaza allowing fans to mingle with Mario, Luigi, and Peach as well as enjoy an immersive experience inspired by the game.

Nintendo is getting ready for the launch of the Super Mario Bros. Wonder game by bringing the game to life with an amazing launch party featuring real-life props inspired by the game that is sure to bring fun to the whole family!

In Super Mario Bros. Wonder, Mario and his friends are invited by the benevolent Prince Florian to the Flower Kingdom. But Bowser, the King of the Koopas, has other plans. By merging with Prince Florian’s castle, chaos is spread across the land. Mario and friends must join forces to restore order.

Exploring the Flower Kingdom, players can expect the unexpected, thanks to the mysterious power of the Wonder Flowers. Touching one in a course triggers a Wonder effect, such as pipes in motion, the terrain tilting, an altered perspective or floating through space. Additionally, Mario and his friends can use new power-ups such as the Elephant Fruit that allows transformation between Elephant, Drill, and Bubble forms.

The game also features a variety of badges, each of which offers its own abilities such as the Wall-Climb Jump and Crouching High Jump Badges. Up to four people*** can partake in local co-op play, while those playing solo online can help revive each other using standees. The game also awards Heart Points to players who assist one another online.

Wonder, available now at a suggested retail price of $349.99.
