Available for the first time on Nintendo Switch via the Nintendo eShop, UK (and others outside of NA) gamers can pre-order this collection digitally now for its January 8th 2024 release.
The Monty Mole Collection features four classic games from the subterranean mammal turned international criminal – Wanted! Monty Mole (1984), Monty on the Run (1985), Auf Wiedersehen Monty (1987), and Moley Christmas (1987). Fans will also be delighted to see Monty’s partner in crime, Sam Stoat, making an appearance in the bonus game, Sam Stoat: Safebreaker (1985).
Bringing back memories for retro gamers, each game is available in its original Commodore 64 and ZX Spectrum versions, allowing players to experience these games as they were originally meant to be played. The collection also features difficulty modes, display filters including an 80s-style CRT filter, and the ability to save and restore up to four suspend points per game. The innovative “Live Rewind” feature lets players rewind up to 10 seconds of gameplay with just the push of a button, making it easier to defeat challenging levels.
In Wanted! Monty Mole, players embark on a daring raid to snatch coal from a South Yorkshire pit to survive the long, cold winter. But beware of flying pickets, mammal-eating fish, and other hazards along the way. In Monty on the Run, after being freed from Scudmore Prison by Sam Stoat, Monty must navigate through enemies and obstacles to make it to the cross-channel ferry. Auf Wiedersehen Monty takes Monty on a journey across Europe, trying to outrun the authorities with the goal of finding a private Mediterranean island. And in Moley Christmas, Monty celebrates the holidays by delivering a brand new game to a computer magazine. As players jump, climb, and dodge hazards, they are transported back to the 80s with the game’s four levels.
But that’s not all, fans will also get to experience the misadventures of Sam Stoat in his own game, Sam Stoat: Safebreaker. This mustelid malefactor, who previously helped in Monty’s escape, is now looking for a big score in this exciting bonus game.
