SQUARE ENIX Celebrates Iconic SaGa Franchise’s 34th Anniversary with a Special Livestream Revealing New Details for the Upcoming SaGa Emerald Beyond
Earlier today, SQUARE ENIX revealed the SaGa Glimmerfest 2023 34th Anniversary Livestream. The stream provided more information on SaGa Emerald Beyond, the all-new original adventure in the acclaimed RPG franchise. Set to launch on April 25, 2024 digitally for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation5 (PS5), PlayStation4 (PS4) consoles, PC (STEAM), and iOS/Android devices, the livestream shared a deeper look into the game’s characters and their stories.
Masanori Ichikawa, SaGa series Producer, Akitoshi Kawazu, Executive Producer and General Director, and Neil Broadley, Localization Director, introduced two key SaGa Emerald Beyond characters who possess the ability to see the mysterious emerald waves that present choices of their destinies.
Tsunanori Mido, an explorer from the esteemed Mido family, and Ameya Aisling, a Miyako City schoolgirl, possess incredibly unique powers that will be integral to their respective stories.
Tsunanori comes from the esteemed Mido family, whose bloodline uses their unique ability to control kugutsu puppets to complete all manner of odd jobs. He joins the Cathedral Project with the goal of repairing his city’s weakening barrier, the hope of helping reclaim lost spiritual energy.
Ameya, also known as Yumeha Izumi, is a witch from Pulchra whose powers were stolen from her.
After finding the mysterious emerald waves, she hopes to use this newfound ability to discover who stole her mana and become the best witch anyone has ever seen.
The development group also revealed a new key art featuring the full cast of protagonists for players to explore the depths of. Pre-orders for the upcoming RPG will open next year. Those looking to embark on a new adventure can add SaGa Emerald Beyond to their wishlist for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and Steam to be notified when orders become available.
SaGa Emerald Beyond will be the latest from SQUARE ENIX’s ongoing SaGa Project, which thus far includes Western releases of Romancing SaGa -Minstrel Song- Remastered, Romancing SaGa 3, SaGa SCARLET GRACE: AMBITIONS, and SaGa Frontier Remastered. The game is not yet rated by the ESRB.
