Revamped FPS Rise of the Triad: Ludicrous Edition Clashes with Cults on September 29th

Coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch

Rise of the Triad: Ludicrous Edition is about to rise again and make its debut on consoles! The cult classic first-person shooter game, originally released in 1995 and developed/published by Apogee Entertainment, will be splattering gibs on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and both the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on September 29th, 2023.

Rise of the Triad: Ludicrous Edition players will get the same great experience as the original game, but with upgraded 4K graphics, increased FOV, and cloud saves. Plus, in a first for the console release, you’ll be able to play the game with a controller!

As one of the High-Risk United Nations Task-Force (H.U.N.T.), you’re investigating the cult activity wreaking havoc on Los Angeles. To achieve this, you’ll need to select one of the five elite soldiers each with their own unique abilities and stats. Between the iconic dual-wielded pistols and MP-40 machine guns, and the deadly “drunk missiles” you should have no problem making your way through the labyrinthine lairs.

There’s plenty of new content available in Rise of the Triad: Ludicrous Editiontoo, including a whole host of campaigns, expansion packs, and new episodes developed by the original designers. Plus, you can check out previously unreleased content from lost beta builds and rock out with a remixed soundtrack featuring music from every ROTT release ever.

For those with competitive friends, there’ll be the classic COMM-BAT deathmatch, 10 vs. 1 Hunter mode, and the historic “Capture the Triad” mode, gaming’s first ever online capture the flag mode. All with the added advantage of 11-player cross-play online multiplayer.

Rise of the Triad: Ludicrous Edition is available now on Steam and GOG for $19.99 USD and will be splattering gibs on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S via backward compatibility from September 29th, 2023.

The original project manager of the game, Scott Miller from Apogee Entertainment, has commented: “It’s been a blast adding new features to ROTT after all these years. We look forward to console gamers getting a chance to experience FPS history in just a few short weeks!”
