Dice-based deck-building roguelike Tamarak Trail is coming this summer

Customize your dice and brave a forest full of horrors

Yarrow Games and Versus Evil have announced that their upcoming deck-building roguelike, Tamarak Trail, will be launching this summer on Steam, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.

Tamarak Trail puts players in the shoes of a member of the Sturgeon Lodge, a secret society tasked with uncovering the source of an ominous corruption and putting a stop to it. Players can choose from three unique characters – the Magician, the Tracker, and the Detective – each with their own set of skills and abilities. They will then be set on a procedurally-generated path full of events, monsters, and treasures.

To combat the monsters and other foes, players must be tactical in their dice-building. Each dice side can be used to attack directly, apply buffs and debuffs, inflict damage over time, and defend themselves. Dice cores can also be applied for passive abilities, and combo attacks can be created by smacking two dice together. Furthermore, dice faces can be customized with more abilities after each victory.

The game features a stunning hand-drawn visual style, drawing inspiration from the Group of Seven and illustrator Ivan Bilibin. It also includes a diverse and horrific bestiary inspired by Northern Ontario’s wildlife.

Tamarak Trail is among the most deep, engrossing deck builders I’ve ever played,” said Steve Escalante, general Manager of Versus Evil. “We think Tamarak Trail has such wide appeal that we’re committed to bringing it to all major platforms right out of the gate.”

Tamarak Trail is set to launch this summer on Steam, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
