During the Future of Play Direct showcase, Serenity Forge and Black Tabby Games have announced an exciting partnership to bring the hit psychological visual novel, Slay The Princess – The Pristine Cut, to PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and PC in Fall 2024. The news was met with much anticipation, accompanied by a new trailer showcasing the perils that await players in this gripping game.
The Slay The Princess – The Pristine Cut edition promises to be the definitive release of the beloved title, with over 35% more gameplay and a host of new content. This includes three brand new chapters, never-before-seen princesses, expansions to familiar routes, and an entirely new ending. The game also features a gallery where players can relive their memories, triumphs, and untimely deaths throughout Slay the Princess’ many encounters.
One of the most exciting additions to the game is the collaboration with acclaimed artists Abby Howard and voice actors Jonathan Sims and Nichole Goodnight. Over 1,200 new frames have been hand-illustrated by Howard, adding to the eerie atmosphere and shock of surprising moments in the game. Over 2,500 new lines of dialogue have also been fully voiced by Sims and Goodnight, creating a truly immersive experience for players.
The premise of Slay The Princess – The Pristine Cut is as intriguing as it is chilling. At the end of a path in the woods lies a cabin, and in its basement resides a Princess. The player’s mission is clear – to slay the Princess before she destroys the world. But it won’t be easy. The Princess will do everything in her power to stop the player, using charm, lies, and false promises. And if the player falls under her spell, they will face death multiple times.
Slay The Princess – The Pristine Cut offers a unique horror experience where player choices have extreme consequences. Each time the player dies, the game starts over, but with variations that can change the course of the story dramatically. Will the Princess be a regular princess in the next encounter, or will she transform into a terrifying 10-foot-tall demon? It all depends on the player’s beliefs and actions.
No matter which reality they fall into, every background and sprite is beautifully hand-penciled by Ignatz award-winning artist Abby Howard, adding to the game’s eerie atmosphere and unexpected twists.
Originally released on Steam in October 2023, Slay The Princess quickly gained a massive following and received overwhelmingly positive reviews.
