Lords of Exile

A Cursed Knight Seeks Vengeance in Lords of Exile this Valentine’s Day!

Get ready to journey back in time with Lords of Exile, the highly anticipated 8-bit side-scrolling action platformer set to release on February 14, 2024. Developed by indie game studio Squidbit Works and published by PID Games and PixelHeart, Lords of Exile promises to bring back the nostalgia of classic 8-bit side scrollers with a modern twist.

Set in the Far Lands of Exilia, players take on the role of Gabriel, a bloodthirsty cursed knight seeking revenge on the creatures of the night and samurais that have overrun his land. With 8 levels of classic linear design, Lords of Exile offers a challenging and engaging gameplay experience. Each level is filled with various obstacles and enemies to overcome, leading up to a powerful boss battle that will put players’ skills to the test.

But the fun doesn’t stop there. After defeating each boss, Gabriel gains an extra skill that allows him to progress further and take on even greater challenges. And for endless replayability, players can also unlock the ability to play as Lyria, with her own unique and distinct gameplay experience.

Lords of Exile offers a variety of gameplay mechanics, from throwing weapons to melee combat, down stabs, jumping, and dashing. But it’s not just about defeating enemies, players must also navigate through the stunning handcrafted 8-bit pixel art levels with perfectly polished controls.

And for those looking for an extra challenge, once the game is completed with Gabriel, two additional game modes are unlocked: Speedrunner and Boss Rush. These modes can also be played with either Gabriel or Lyria for even more variety.

To top it off, Lords of Exile offers a retro-aesthetic with 16-bit physics and 8-bit sound design. The game’s fast anime-style animations and 8-bit SFX and OST, enriched with sounds from the Megadrive sound chip, create an immersive retro experience that will transport players back to the glory days of classic gaming.

Excitement for Lords of Exile has been building since the release of a Steam Demo during the Steam Next Fest in June 2023. And now, the wait is nearly over. Fans can look forward to playing Lords of Exile on February 14, 2024, on all major platforms including Steam, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One and Series X, and Nintendo Switch.
