Calling all strategic masterminds! The highly acclaimed medieval turn-based strategy game Inkulinati will be released on February 22nd by developer Yaza Games and publisher Daedalic Entertainment. Embark on an adventure filled with challenging battles and unique gameplay on various platforms such as PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and 5, and Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One.
At first glance, Inkulinati may seem like a lighthearted and whimsical game, but don’t be fooled, as underneath lies a strategically complex battle system. Drawing inspiration from real-life doodles found in medieval manuscripts, Polish developer Yaza Games created a unique concept where players have the power to bring these marginalia pieces to life using a special substance called the Living Ink.
With over 50 different units featuring special abilities, including quirky creatures like bishop cats and sword-wielding rabbits, players must use their strategic skills to outwit their opponents. Each battle presents a new challenge, whether it’s defeating all enemies on the battlefield, pushing the enemy leader off the manuscript page, or surviving apocalyptic events like Hell’s Maws. These challenges can be found in the single-player focused Journey Mode, which also includes handcrafted story events for an immersive experience.
Once players have mastered the use of Living Ink, they can test their skills in Duel Mode, where they can go head-to-head with friends in couch co-op battles or through Steam Remote Play. Create customized battle scenarios and hone your skills or simply blow off some steam after a long day- the choice is yours.
The development of Inkulinati began 700 years ago when bored monks started scribbling creatures and characters on the margins of manuscript pages. This old form of art was nearly lost with the invention of industrial book printing, but Yaza Games revived it and brought it to the modern world.
