Two Studios Team Up to Develop Child’s First, Earth Day-Worthy Switch Game Mouse & Crane

Created with younger players in mind, endearing Mouse & Crane offers critical thinking activities & meaningful fun that highlights environmental consciousness

In an exciting collaboration, Danish studio Those Eyes and Canadian company Tobo have announced their partnership to develop a new game for the Nintendo Switch. Titled Mouse & Crane, this single-player and cooperative puzzle-based adventure is set to be released in June 2024.

With a focus on younger audiences, Mouse & Crane aims to provide a fun and educational gaming experience. The game follows the adventures of three best friends and encourages players to solve challenges and puzzles creatively. But what sets this game apart is its emphasis on upcycling, recycling, and construction, making it a perfect fit for Earth Day.

“We wanted to create a game that not only entertains but also teaches valuable lessons about sustainability and teamwork,” shared Trine Laier, owner, game director, and producer at Those Eyes. “Video games have become a staple in most households, and we saw a gap in the market for a game that specifically caters to younger, newer players.”

With the Nintendo Switch’s popularity among families, Laier and her team knew it was the perfect platform for their game. The Switch’s user-friendly design, lightweight build, and extensive library of family-friendly games make it an ideal choice for parents looking for an appropriate game for their child.

“Accessibility was our top priority when creating Mouse & Crane,” said Judith Beauregard, co-CEO, and producer at Tobo. “We wanted the game to be suitable for a young child’s skill level, with no need for reading. Important information is either spoken or displayed as universally understandable icons, ensuring that all children can enjoy the game regardless of their reading abilities.”

In Mouse & Crane, children will be able to build new things using everyday tools such as screwdrivers and glue guns, promoting hands-on learning and inspiring them to undertake DIY activities with their parents. The game’s unique hand-drawn collage art style adds to its charm, reminiscent of cozy picture books.

But what truly sets Mouse & Crane apart is its focus on peaceful problem-solving through creativity and collaboration. In cooperative play, children can team up with their parents or older siblings to solve puzzles that require teamwork and sharing digital moments. This feature also allows for parents to adjust their involvement based on their child’s needs, making the game ‘parent-friendly.’

Excited fans will have to wait until June 2024 to get their hands on Mouse & Crane, but the game is already garnering attention for its commitment to online safety. The game is GDPR-K and COPPA compliant, ensuring a safe and secure gaming experience for children.

With its combination of education, entertainment, and accessibility, Mouse & Crane for Switch is set to be a hit among young audiences and their families. So mark your calendars and get ready to join the adventures of Mouse, Crane, and their friends in this must-try game.
