Sam & Max: The Devil’s Playhouse Remastered coming this Spring

Holiday contest kicks off today

The iconic crime-fighting duo Sam & Max are set to make a triumphant return in Spring 2024 with the remastered version of the beloved episodic classic Sam & Max: The Devil’s Playhouse. Skunkape Games, made up of some of the founding members of the original development team at Telltale, is busy remastering the Sam & Max trilogy with an array of modern day updates.

LucasArts released the adventure game Sam & Max: Freelance Police in 2004 that gained a devoted fanbase. After the game was canceled, several of the development team left to form Telltale Games. They went on to make three seasons of episodic games based on Steve Purcell’s dog and rabbit crime-fighting characters between 2006 and 2010 that received critical acclaim. The final game of the trilogy was Sam & Max: The Devil’s Playhouse.

In spring 2024, gamers can look forward to an upgraded version of the classic with enhanced graphics, lighting, lip-sync, cinematography, and music. The remastered edition of Sam & Max: The Devil’s Playhouse will be released for PC, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. User interface refinements, accessibility settings, as well as the addition of point & click mouse controls will make gameplay more comfortable for players.

Skunkape Games is also running a contest for the holiday season called the “Oops, We Missed Halloween So Let’s Do a Holiday Contest Instead”. Submissions of handmade Sam & Max themed items are open until December 17, and grand prize winners will get the limited edition of Sam &Max: Beyond Time and Space (PC), a bundle of action figures including Scuba Max & Ratso and the Rubber Pants Commando, as well as a key for the remastered edition of Sam & Max: The Devil’s Playhouse when it releases in Spring 2024.

The Skunkape Games store is also looking to spread holiday cheer with the offer of the Sam & Max Save the World vinyl soundtrack. The trifold package features all of the key music from the six-episode season as well as cover artwork created by Sam & Max creator Steve Purcell. Christmas shipping deadlines are December 5 for international orders and December 14 for those within the US.

Sam & Max fans can look forward to an epic conclusion to the original trilogy when the remastered edition of Sam & Max: The Devil’s Playhouse is released. With the various updates and extras included, the new version of The Devil’s Playhouse will bring the beloved crime-fighting duo to life on modern day platforms.
