Retro-Inspired Tube Shooter Akka Arrh – Available Now from Atari

The Fabled Atari Prototype from Yesteryear Becomes a Dazzling Mix of Colors and Shapes, and Rocks a Killer Soundtrack

Today Atari was proud to announce the launch of Akka Arrh, a rhythmically flowing, fast-paced arcade experience from legendary designer Jeff Minter. Originally believed to only be a rumored prototype, Akka Arrh is now available on PC via Steam, PlayStation 4|5, Xbox One & Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and Atari VCS.

“Not only did we get a chance to work with one of the creative minds that helped build the modern video game industry in Jeff Minter, but we also got to release a fantastic new game that is true to our retro-inspired roots,” said Atari CEO Wade Rosen.

Akka Arrh is a frenzied kaleidoscope of neon insanity, embodying the neon style and “just one more round” mentality of the arcade era perfectly. Players control the titular akka arrh, a suped-up cannon just begging to be unleashed, to blast through swaths of enemy waves while experiencing a cascade of words, color, shapes and sound flows.

With two modes of play and 50 unique levels, players can start from the beginning and battle their way through or pick up where they left off to power through to the end.

Akka Arrh is available now on PC via Steam, Xbox S|X, PlayStation 4|5, and Nintendo Switch for $19.99 USD. Atari’s retro-inspired console, the Atari VCS, is also launching Akka Arrh, available for purchase through the Atari VCS store.
