Dungeon Defenders: Awakened Debuts on Nintendo Switch Today

Dungeon Defenders: Awakened, the epic return of Chromatic Games’ multimillion-selling co-op tower defense action RPG series, charges into battle today on Nintendo Switch. Arriving alongside the series’ Nintendo debut is the free update, “The Lycan’s Keep,” out simultaneously across PC and Xbox systems; the update will be available soon after launch on Nintendo Switch.

As darkness descends on Etheria once again, familiar heroes return to protect the Eternia crystals. Heed the call and suit up as seven dynamic heroes — including the Warden and Rogue, introduced with The Lycan’s Keep. Each Hero possesses fresh playstyles and character-specific abilities to allow for various builds and strategies as they topple orcs, goblins, and more.

Progress through a multi-arc campaign with beautiful new stages and reimagined versions of series favorites. Begin each map in the Build Phase, where Heroes place defensive blockades and offensive towers in critical locations before entering the Combat Phase. Once the melee begins, leap into the fray where action-RPG combat helps thin the ranks and secure victory.

Dungeon Defenders: Awakened arrives on Nintendo Switch, complete with six game modes and six difficulty options. Tackle the campaign alone, with friends in online co-op, or dive right into alternate game types like Pure Strategy Mode, a tower defense-only variant perfect for tactical-minded heroes, and Survival Mode with its seemingly endless waves of enemies.

Earn new gear, weapons, accessories, pets, and more by taking down enemies and bosses in the campaign. Equip powerful upgrades to ready yourself for the challenges offered in Hardcore mode or Rifted maps, remixed battlegrounds where powerful Rifted foes appear and can drop high-tier loot. Turn hard-earned equipment into unique outfits for each Hero with the Transmog system, allowing for custom characters that let each Defender’s personality shine.

Advance through post-story content across four maps in The Lycan’s Keep that draws from the franchise’s roots as well as all-new locations. Complete battles and prepare for a faceoff against the fearsome Lycan King. Hone skills in the new Test Mode, featuring character-specific ordeals that require beating bosses in one-on-one combat-focused, towerless showdowns.

Experience the definitive version of Dungeon Defenders: Awakened with The Lycan’s Keep update and its overhaul of gear and menu interfaces. Unlock and equip new thematic weapon sets, tons of new loot, cute pets, and equippable Wings for an edge in battle.

“We’ve worked on the Dungeon Defenders franchise for more than a decade,” said Alec Saare, Creative Director, Chromatic Games. “Awakened is the first title in the series available on a Nintendo console, and we are thrilled to welcome a new generation of Defenders to Etheria today!”

Dungeon Defenders: Awakened is now available on Nintendo Switch for $29.99. The Lycan’s Keep update also launches today on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S for free to all base game owners. A PlayStation 4 version is planned for later this year with PlayStation 5 support.
